Women's Basketball continues its winning ways

ALMA, Mich. – Four starters scored in double figures as Albion College secured a 75-55 victory over Alma College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

Albion won its sixth in a row to improve to 13-2 overall and 6-1 against MIAA rivals. The Britons continue MIAA play on the road on Wednesday, making the hour drive to Angola, Ind., for its first meeting of the season against 11th-ranked Trine University.

Emily Bernas and Evelyn Wischmeyer scored two baskets apiece as Albion jumped out to a 13-2 lead three minutes into the game.

Albion never trailed from that point on, though the score was 25-21 at the end of the first quarter and tied at 27 early in the second.

Rain Hinton scored eight in a row for the Britons as Albion maintained a 35-31 lead with four minutes left in the second quarter. Wischmeyer knocked down a pair of 3-point baskets as Albion extended the margin to 47-33 late in the quarter. Albion settled for a 47-36 lead at halftime.

Both teams scored 12 points in the third quarter and Albion outscored Alma, 16-7, in the fourth.

Wischmeyer finished with 21 points and nine rebounds. It was her fourth 20-point game of the season.

Hinton added 18 points and six rebounds, Hubbard added 15 points and seven rebounds and Bernas finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
