Albion finishes December MIAA slate

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Rain Hinton scored 14 of her season-high 23 points in the first half as Albion College cruised to an 80-55 victory over Kalamazoo College at the Anderson Athletic Center.

With the victory, Albion completed the month of December with a 3-1 record against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals. The Britons work for the month is unfinished, however, as they get set for a Dec. 19 home game against Franklin (Ind.) College and a Dec. 30 road trip to Maryville (Tenn.) College.

Playing just 16 minutes – her second-lowest total of the season – Hinton dominated the low block by hitting 10-of-16 shots. She stuffed the box score with five rebounds and three steals.

Hinton received support from Maija Gillum. She came off the bench midway through the first quarter and hit a pair of 3-point range as Albion built a 20-10 lead. Gillum finished with 13 points, one shy of her season-high, by knocking down 5-of-9 shots from the field. She added four rebounds and three steals.

Emily Bernas was Albion's other scorer in double figures, finishing with 12 points.

Of Note

  • Albion shot 53 percent from the field in building an 18-point lead at halftime.
  • Tiffani Burgess was effective in her 12 minutes off the bench. The first-year student-athlete scored a season-high six points by shooting 3-of-7 from the field. She also grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists and collected two steals.
