Women's Basketball storms past North Park

CHICAGO, Ill. – Evelyn Wischmeyer scored 11 of her team-high 15 points in the second quarter to power Albion College to a 79-51 victory over North Park University in the consolation game of the Vikings Thanksgiving Invitational.

Albion will take a 4-1 record into its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener, a Wednesday home date against Olivet College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Kresge Gymnasium.

Albion shot 67 percent (10-of-15) as it outscored North Park 26-6 in the second quarter to take a 51-19 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Wischmeyer was 4-of-4 from the field, including a pair from three-point range, in the second quarter. She received support from Mya Duncan, who added five points.

Rain Hinton completed her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds in just 14 minutes on the court.

With none of the starters playing more than 21 minutes, the reserves chipped in with 38 points. Brooke Schutte fell two points shy of her career high, hitting 4-of-5 shots from the field and all four of her attempts from the free throw line for 12 points. Maija Gillum added 11, knocking down 4-of-6 shots from the field.
