Wischmeyer nets 20 in women's basketball loss

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University outscored Albion College, 14-8, in the third quarter to hold off the Britons upset bid in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

Trine, ranked seventh in the latest d3hoops.com Top 25, turned back Albion, 67-59.

Evelyn Wischmeyer hit 5-of-6 shots from 3-point range – scoring 17 points overall – in the first half as the Britons trailed by one, 32-31, at halftime.

Wischmeyer tacked on three points in the second half for her third 20-point game of the season. She was efficient, hitting 6-of-8 from the field.

Brittany Leutz played the supporting role for the Britons, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Albion held Brandi Dawson, the MIAA's third-leading scorer, to 10 points. Montana Martin produced a season-high 18 off the bench and Cassidy Williams chipped in with 14.

Albion (16-7 overall, 9-5 MIAA) hits the road for the final time in the regular season Wednesday night with a 7:30 game at Kalamazoo College.
