ALMA, Mich. – Emily Bernas dialed from long distance – hitting three 3-point shots – in the first two minutes as Albion College sprinted to a 22-0 lead and cruised to a 79-47 victory over Alma College Wednesday night.
The Britons moved to 9-4 against league rivals and forged a ½ game lead over Calvin College for third place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
The starting unit was efficient, shooting 58 percent (22-of-38) from the field. Bernas and Rain Hinton finished with 15 points apiece, Maija Gillum added 11 and Brittany Leutz and Evelyn Wischmeyer chipped in with seven each.
All but one of the Britons who played in the game scored. Jami Hubbard led the reserves with seven points.
Albion (16-6 overall) takes a Saturday road trip to Trine University for a 3 o'clock game.
