Women's Basketball improves to 4-0

ALBION, Mich. – The Albion College women's basketball team is off to a 4-0 start for the sixth time under head coach Doreen Carden after scoring a 98-66 victory over Lourdes University in a non-league game at Kresge Gymnasium.

Carden, in her 17th season, boasts an overall mark of 257-169 for a .603 winning percentage with the Britons.

Albion also started 4-0 under Carden in 2001, '03, '05, '07 and '16.

Four Britons scored in double-figures, led by Evelyn Wischmeyer with a career-high 24. Rain Hinton contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double. Sam Carter and Jami Hubbard chipped in with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Carden said the Britons set the tone early, shooting 65 percent from the field to lead 33-18 after the first quarter. Hinton scored nine points as Albion ripped off a 16-0 run to seize a 26-11 lead and it never looked back.

Sara Semler led Lourdes with 15 points.

Albion will hit the road Saturday, traveling to South Bend, Ind., for a matchup against Saint Mary's College in its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association game of the season.
