Trine Knocks Off Albion

ANGOLA, Ind. – Playing less than 72 hours after upsetting nationally-ranked Hope College, Albion College didn't have much in the tank as it took the court against the Trine University squad tied for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association lead.

Albion shot 28 percent, committed 17 turnovers and finished with 11 fewer rebounds in a 69-45 loss.

Brandi Dawson scored on three consecutive possessions to help Trine run out to an 11-2 lead four minutes into the contest. Dawson scored eight of her 12 points in the first quarter as Trine led 19-7 after 10 minutes of play.

Three-point shooting kept Albion within striking range in the first half. The Britons hit four shots from long distance to trail, 24-16, midway through the second quarter.

Hayley Martin scored six points as Trine ended the first half on a 10-0 run to take a 34-16 lead at halftime. Martin led all players in the game with 15 points.

Albion's reserves produced more points (25) than the starting unit (20). Mackenzie Fairbanks and Oreyana Curry led the Britons with seven points apiece. Tierra Orban hit both of her 3-poitn shots to finish with six.

Albion will play its next two games at home, starting with a 6 o'clock Wednesday tilt with Olivet College.
