Britons Stung At Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Kalamazoo College went on a 9-0 run over the first three minutes of the second half and it led by double digits most of the way as it handed Albion College a 65-56 setback in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

Albion shot 37 percent (18 of 49) from the field. That came on the heels of its best shooting performance of the season – 57 percent – in a win at Adrian Wednesday night.

Kelsey Adamski, who led all players with 20 points, scored the first two baskets of the second half, Hannah Maness knocked down a 3-point shot and Perri Nicholson tacked on a pair of free throws as Kalamazoo built a 14-point lead, 40-26.

Albion never mounted a sustained run led by at least nine the rest of the way.

Darian Payne was Albion's best shooter, hitting 5-of-10 from the field, and she finished the day with 16 points. Oreyana Curry added 13 and Tierra Orban 9.

Albion (12-11 overall, 6-9 MIAA) will play at home for the final time this season Wednesday when it hosts Saint Mary's College. The tip will follow a 6 p.m. men's game between Albion and Trine University.
