KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Brett de Bear scored eight of her team-high 17 points in the final 3:21 as Albion College escaped the Anderson Athletic Center with a 70-58 victory over Kalamazoo College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

Albion led by as many as 19 in the first half and it led 35-21 at halftime. Kalamazoo tied the score at 56 when Emily Lindsay buried a 3-point basket with 4:21 to play.

de Bear made the first of two shots from the line, and Taylor Nugent tacked on a 3-point basket as Albion never surrendered the lead in the second half. de Bear knocked down a 3-point basket and Tanner Johnson added a pair of free throws as the margin expanded to nine, 65-56, with 48 seconds remaining.

de Bear was 2 of 4 from 3-point range and 7 of 9 from the line. Emily DeWaters and Johnson also scored in double figures for Albion with 14 and 13, respectively.

Holly Cooperrider was the only Kalamazoo player to score in double figures. She finished with 13.

Albion will complete the regular season Saturday with a home game against Olivet College. The tip is scheduled for 3 p.m.
