Tournament Hopes Hit A Bump

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University blitzed Albion College with a 20-2 run to start the game, and the Britons never recovered in a 63-46 loss in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

The loss damages Albion's hopes of qualifying for the MIAA Tournament. The Britons' two game winning streak in the league was snapped as they fell to 5-9 against league rivals. Albion completes the regular season with games at Kalamazoo College and at home against Olivet College.

Megan Loveberry, Alivia Recker, and Sydney Spragg combined to score all of Trine's early points. Loveberry led all players with 22 points.  Recker and Spragg contributed 12 points apiece.

Albion whittled the margin down to 10 on two occasions in the first half, but that was as close as the Britons would get. Darian Payne connected on 4 of 7 shots from the field to finish with a team-high 11 points. Brett de Bear added 10.
