Britons Pick Up Road Win

The Albion College women's basketball team picked up their second win of the 2012-13 season on Saturday afternoon with an impressive 63-48 comeback victory over the Alma Scots.

Despite trailing for nearly the entire first half, and just under eight minutes of the second half, the Britons closed the game on a 31-12 run, which was sparked by three critical free throws from junior guard Brett deBear and freshman forward Katie Thompson.

The Britons were able to overcome shooting just 31 percent from the field by holding the Scots to less than 30 percent, and Albion helped itself by getting to the free-throw line 44 times.

DeBear converted 11-of-13 free throws, and as a team the Britons knocked down 32 of their attempts. The Plymouth, Mich. native scored a game-high 22 points and eight for Albion.

Junior guard Taylor Nugent and senior guard Taylor Peruchietti joined deBear in double figures with 10 points apiece.

The Britons will be back in action on Wednesday against the University of Michigan Dearborn. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
