Late Basket Sends Albion to Road Setback

ADRIAN, Mich. – Albion College erased an 11-point first-half deficit, but it could not protect a three-point lead in the final minute as it dropped a 61-59 decision to Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

Adrian led by as many as 11 twice, but Albion went on a 20-8 run over the final nine minutes of the first half. Danielle Fraley started the rally with a pair of baskets. Taylor Nugent added three free throws and Brett de Bear tacked on a layup. Katie Thompson's basket put Albion in front, 24-23, for the first time in the game. Albion went on to lead 31-29 at halftime.

Neither team led by more than five in the second half. Albion went on an 8-0 spurt to take a 59-56 lead when Tanner Johnson knocked down a 3-point shot with 1:22 to play. Nicole Boggs produced the winning basket for Adrian with a 3-point basket with 11 seconds to play.

Four Britons scored in double figures, led by de Bear with 16. Nugent and Thompson added 12 points apiece and Fraley finished with 10. Thompson grabbed 12 rebounds to complete the first double-double of her collegiate career.

Antoinea McElroy and Lauren Rhoads paced Adrian with 12 points apiece.
