Softball Ends Year Among Top Stat Rankings

The Albion softball team ended the season among the top 25 nationally in several statistical categories. Brits find themselves near the top of these lists both as a team and as individuals.

As a team, the Britons ranked sixth nationally in total runs with 118 in 12 games. They also ranked seventh in scoring (9.83), thirteenth in walks (55), twenty-first in doubles per game (2.25), and twenty-fourth in doubles (27).

Freshman Ashley Pion ranked in the top 25 of multiple categories. The pitcher from Edwardsburg, Mich. ranked third in strikeouts, with 68 in her ten appearances. She also ranked eleventh in shutouts (2), eighteenth in saves (1), and twenty-fifth in strikeouts per seven innings (9.7).

Freshman Lilli Patillo also ranked number one in the country as toughest to strikeout. Patillo accumulated 32 at-bats in 12 games without being struck out once.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu
