Softball splits one-run games to complete spring break

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Albion College softball team split one-run games Saturday to complete its spring break trip with a 6-6 record.

Albion, 6-8 overall on the season, will return home to prepare for a doubleheader at Bluffton University.

Albion 3, Lesley 2

Estacia Martinez hit a homerun in the sixth and Kacy Rossi hit a RBI single and Grace Connolly was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the seventh as Albion rallied for the victory.

Martinez hit her solo blast with two out in the sixth.

Morgan Deckrow hit a single with one out in the seventh, and Felicia Maximiuk came on as a pinch runner. After a strikeout, Skyler Herman drew a walk, Rossi singled and Lauren Beougher and Connolly were hit by pitches.

Deckrow was the winning pitcher. She allowed nine hits and two walks while striking out five.

Western Connecticut State 2, Albion 1

Rebecca Rodriguez drew a bases loaded walk in the first inning to account for Albion's run.

Western Connecticut State scored its runs in the fourth when Jenna Houlahan slugged a two-run shot.

Eryn VanderVlucht, the Briton pitcher, allowed seven hits over six innings.
