Albion splits Friday softball games

NAPLES, Fla. – Rebecca Rodriguez hit .714 (5-for-7) with a homerun as the Albion College softball team split its Friday games at the North Collier Regional Park.

Albion 10, Martin Luther College 8

Albion scored three in the seventh to take a 10-2 lead. The Britons needed those runs because Martin Luther rallied for six runs in its half of the inning, but Briton pitcher Morgan Deckrow was able to get a strikeout for the final out.

Rodriguez slugged her homerun as Albion forged a 1-1 tie in the second. She added a RBI single in the fifth.

Grace Connolly singled to drive in two runs in the third and she hit a homerun in the fifth.

Deckrow helped her cause with a RBI single in the fifth. In the seventh, she put the ball in play and forced an error by the shortstop as Rodriguez scored. Deckrow scored in the seventh when Camille Roloff hit a single.

Penn State-Altoona 4, Albion 2

Kacy Rossi and Connolly collected the RBI as Albion scored twice in the first inning. The lead held up until Altoona scored four times in the sixth.

Skyler Herman collected two hits for Albion.

On Deck

Albion, now 5-7 on the season, will complete the spring break trip with Saturday morning games against Lesley University and Western Connecticut State University.
