VanderVlucht lifts Albion to split of softball doubleheader

ALBION, Mich. – Eryn VanderVlucht's two-run double in the seventh lifted Albion College to a 4-3 victory over Olivet College in the second game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader at Dempsey Field.

Taylor Shellenberger hit a RBI single as Olivet went ahead, 3-2, in the sixth.

Camille Roloff started Albion's rally in the seventh, reaching base on an error by the third baseman. After a sacrifice, Lauren Beougher hit a single. Both runners came in to score on VanderVlucht's hit.

VanderVlucht (5-13) earned credit for the win in the circle, scattering seven hits and three walks.

Kelsie Vogleman and Katie Doniere produced the RBI for Albion's first two runs of the game.

Albion had to settle for a split on the day, losing game one, 12-2, in five innings. Angela Hoffsis collected three hits for the Britons in that game.
