Softball drops a pair of MIAA games at home

ALBION, Mich. – Allyson Ellis, Angela Hoffsis, and Camille Roloff collected hits in both games and Lauren Beougher had two hits in game two to lead the Albion College offense in 11-1 and 12-4 losses to ninth-ranked Trine University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader at Dempsey Field.

Albion trailed 11-0 went it went to bat in the sixth inning, but the Britons did not go down quietly. Kelsie Vogelman reached base on an error to lead off the inning. Roloff followed by drawing a walk and Ellis hit a one-out single to load the bases. Vogelman scored on a wild pitch.

Claire Ryan and Michaela Hartline slugged homeruns and both drove in three runs each for Trine in game one.

Albion took the early lead in game two on Beougher singled to score Roloff in the first inning.

Trine answered with seven runs in its half of the first inning.

Vogelman, Grace Connolly and Kimberly Freitas also collected RBI for Albion in game two.

Albion will continue MIAA play at home at 3:30 p.m. Friday with a doubleheader against Adrian College.
