Softball team falls to nationally ranked rival

HOLLAND, Mich. – Estacia Martinez collected a single in each game and Kimberly Freitas hit two singles in game two as Albion College was defeated by 23rd-ranked Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader at Wolters Softball Stadium.

Game One: Hope 8, Albion 0 (five innings)

Angela Hoffsis and Martinez produced the hits for Albion.

Sierra Mutschler led Hope with three hits and three runs batted in.

Game Two: Hope 9, Albion 0

Albion loaded the bases in the sixth. Allyson Ellis drew a walk. Camille Roloff was hit by a pitch and Lauren Beougher hit an infield single. The Britons were unable to collect a two-out hit to score a run.

Hayley Reitsema slugged two triples and two homeruns and finished with six runs batted in for the Flying Dutch.

On Deck

The Britons return home tomorrow for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader against ninth-ranked Trine University.
