Softball team loses Friday games

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College took advantage of a slow start by Saint Mary's College to lead for the first half of game one, but the visiting Belles warmed up to the task to sweep the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader.

Game 1: Saint Mary's 13, Albion 3
Albion scored its runs in the first inning – Grace Connolly placed a bunt between the pitcher and catcher as Angela Hoffsis scored from third base, Camille Roloff was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Brianna Charron added a RBI single – and the 3-1 lead held up after four innings.

Albion had an opportunity to add a run in the fourth. Roloff, who was awarded first base after being hit by a pitch, was stranded at third base.

Saint Mary's erupted for three runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Game 2: Saint Mary's 8, Albion 0
Connolly and Allyson Ellis collected singles for Albion.

On Deck
Albion (8-14 overall, 0-2 MIAA) travels to Hope College on Tuesday for a MIAA doubleheader.
