Small act of service lifts spirit at children's hospital

Albion student-athlete's commitment to community service continued even during spring break.

The softball team, which won five of six games on the first half of its trip to Naples and Fort Myers, Fla., spent a portion of its day off from competition coloring and decorating cookies with the patients at Golisano Children's Hospital.

"We were able to talk with them individually and learn different things about them," sophomores Angela Hoffsis and Savannah Spring wrote via e-mail. "During this experience we were able to put a smile on a kids face just by decorating a cookie with them. We learned that it's the little things that count and to not take things for granted. The kids we spent time with today acted as though we were their heroes, but in reality we felt as though they were our heroes."

Albion returns to the field Thursday morning with games against Kenyon, Ohio, College and Penn State University-Altoona.
