Softball Rallies For Game Two Win

ALBION, Mich. – First baseman Kara Suwarsky delivered three hits and drove in three runs to help Albion College gain an 8-1 victory over Calvin College in the second game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader against Calvin College.

Leadoff hitter Angela Hoffsis rapped two hits, scored twice and drove in a run, Madison McConnell added two hits, a run and a RBI and Mackenzie Fairbanks collected three hits, scored a run and drove in a run.

Pitcher Madison Kortas produced her best game of the season, allowing six hits and two walks.

Albion had to settle for a split after losing game one, 3-0. While the Britons did not get a hit in the game, the Britons had a scoring chance when Rebecca Rodriguez reached third base with one out. She reached base on an error and advanced to second and third on wild pitches.

Calvin pitcher Anna Gernant struck out 11 in gaining the no-hitter in game one.

Albion (8-24 overall, 2-12 MIAA) has moved its home doubleheader with Kalamazoo College to Friday afternoon at 3:30.
