Albion Loses Softball Games At Saint Mary's

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Albion College gave Saint Mary's College a scare, holding a 1-0 lead after five innings in the second game of the softball doubleheader against its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival, but the Belles rallied for a 5-1 victory.

Saint Mary's won game one, 9-1, in five innings.

Game One

Jamie Young, Kelsey Keilman and Cassie Young – the top three batters in the Saint Mary's lineup – combined for eight hits and six RBI. Cassie Young slugged a pair of doubles and a triple.

Makenzie Duncan also slugged an RBI triple for the Belles.

Madison Kortas produced Albion's RBI with a two-out single in the fifth to score Madison McConnell.

Game Two

Becca Rizer's homerun – her second of the season – in the first inning powered Albion to a 1-0 lead.

Albion was unable to convert its other scoring chances. Rebecca Rodriguez clubbed a double with one out in the second and she moved to third on a sacrifice by McConnell. The Britons stranded Angela Hoffsis at second in the third.

Cassie Young finished with two hits and three RBI for the Belles.

On Deck

Albion travels to Olivet College at 2:30 Wednesday for a MIAA doubleheader.
