Albion Softball Falls To MIAA Rival

ALBION, Mich. – Hope College swept a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader from Albion College by scores of 14-0 and 8-0 at Dempsey Field Saturday afternoon.

The Britons, 6-16 overall and 0-4 against conference rivals, return to the diamond tomorrow to makeup a doubleheader with MIAA rival Saint Mary's College.

Game One

Madison McConnell produced a bunt single to leadoff the third inning and Erin VanderVlucht drew a leadoff walk in the fourth, but those were Albion's only base runners.

Hayley Reitsma tripled and drove in four runs and Sierra Mutschler doubled and drove in three runs for Hope.

Game Two

Angela Hoffsis, Kara Suwarsky and Mackenzie Fairbanks hit singles and Rebeka Enders drew a walk for Albion.

Reitsma doubled and drove in four more runs and Katie Singer doubled and drove in three runs for Hope.
