Softball Britons Return To The Diamond

BEREA, Ohio – Rebecca Rodriguez produced three hits, including a double, in the nightcap and Kara Suwarsky slugged a double in each game as the Albion College softball team returned to the field Friday with 5-2 and 10-2 losses at Baldwin-Wallace University.

It was Albion's first competition since March 10 when it completed a 10-game set of games during spring break in Florida.

Albion, now 6-8 on the season, continues non-league plat at 9 a.m. Saturday with a doubleheader at Bluffton University.

Game 1: B-W 5, Albion 2

Albion took the early lead on Ashley Witkowski's double scoring Savannah Spring in the first inning and it forged a 2-2 tie in the fourth when Mackenzie Fairbanks singled to drive in Becca Rizer.

Baldwin-Wallace answered with three runs in its half of the fourth. Alex Kozich and Alexis Boledovic hit back-to-back doubles with two out. Kozich's hit drove in two runs, and she scored on Boledovic's hit.

Game 2: B-W 10, Albion 2

Rebekah Enders hit a RBI single in the third and Fairbanks drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the fourth.

Baldwin-Wallace scored three runs in the fourth and added three more in the fifth.
