Wheaton Takes Two From Albion

ALBION, Mich. – Wheaton College pounded out 28 hits, seven for extra bases, in gaining 9-1 and 12-2 victories over Albion College in a non-league softball doubleheader at Dempsey Field.

Monica Brugnoni delivered Albion's run in game one, hitting her first homerun at the collegiate level.  She cleared the centerfield fence in the fourth inning.

Lauren Oppliger drove in both runs with a fifth inning single in game two. She collected two of Albion's three hits in the game.

Kaitlyn Hotchkin produced a hit in each game for Albion.

Hannah Clark, Megan Neuhaus, Alyssa Leonard and Kelly Thornton all collected four hits for Wheaton in the doubleheader. Neuhaus hit two doubles and drove in five runs. Thornton hit a double and a homerun and drove in three runs.

Albion is scheduled to complete the season Wednesday with a home doubleheader against Concordia (Mich.) University.
