Brugnoni, Hotchkin Lead Offense At Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – Catcher Kaitlyn Hotchkin produced three hits and Monica Brugnoni drove in Albion College's only run of the day as the softball team took 5-0 and 14-1 losses in a doubleheader against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Hope College.

Game One

Lauren Oppliger and Hotchkin hit singles as Albion collected two hits against Hope pitcher Sydney Jones. Jones walked Brugnoni and struck out seven.

Sierra Mutschler clubbed a RBI double in the first inning and added a RBI single in the fourth for the Flying Dutch. Autumn Anderson added a RBI double in the fourth and she came around to score. Sammi Adams also collected two hits and a RBI.

Game Two

Albion scored its run in the fourth. Hotchkin hit a two-out single and Brugnoni followed with a double.

Erica Wagner and Cashmiere Jones also hit singles for the Britons.

Adams had two hits and three RBI for the Flying Dutch. Mutschler clubbed a pair of doubles and she drove in three runs. Noelle Jackson added three hits, including a double, and two RBI.

On Deck

Albion will play its final four doubleheaders of the season at home. The action at Dempsey Field begins at 3:30 p.m. Thursday against MIAA rival Saint Mary's College.
