Luce Collects Three Hits

ALBION, Mich. – Elena Luce collected three hits, including a double, for Albion College in 14-0 and 11-1 losses to Cleary University in non-league softball action at Dempsey Field.

Game One

Allie Newcomb, Andi Dragonetti, and Ciara Darkangelo slugged homeruns as Cleary scored six times in the fourth inning. Ashley Valle added a three-run shot in the fifth.

Albion had a good scoring opportunity in the first inning. Luce hit a leadoff single and Julia Anderson followed by drawing a walk. Ashley Butler drew a two-out walk to load the bases.

Kaitlyn Hotchkin hit a leadoff single in the fourth inning for the Britons.

Game Two

Lauren Oppliger drove in Albion's run in the second inning. Butler started the inning with an infield single. She advanced to second when Alice Garvin drew a one-out walk, and Oppliger followed with her single.

Cleary never trailed in the game. Dragonetti clubbed a three-run homerun in the first inning. Alex Cender and Shelby Melvin also hit homeruns.

Next Up

Albion completes the season with a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College.
