Saint Mary's Sweeps Albion In Softball Action

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Saint Mary's College defeated Albion College, 8-0 and 10-0, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball action.

Game One

Julia Anderson, Monica Brugnoni, Megan LaCavera and Kaitlyn Hotchkin each hit a single in the game for the Britons. Albion left two runners on base in the first and third innings.

Brugnoni, Albion's starting pitcher, limited the damage in the first inning as the Belles scored only one run despite loading the bases. Brugnoni retired the Belles in order in the second inning.

Caitlyn Migawa collected two hits, including a double and four RBI for the Belles.

Game Two

Alice Garvin, Ashley Butler and Anderson drew walks, but Albion did not advance a runner past first base. Saint Mary's pitchers Emily Najacht and Morgan Raymer combined on the no-hitter.

Raymer produced two hits and three RBI and Angela Dainelli hit a two-run single as the Belles scored six times in the third.

On Deck

Albion will make its final road trip of the season Saturday. The Britons will make the hour-long drive to Angola, Ind., to challenge the Trine University squad ranked seventh in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III poll released April 15. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
