Britons Take Swings Against Nationally Ranked Rival

ALBION, Mich. – Ashley Butler and Megan LaCavera hit homeruns in game two as Albion College took its swings against 24th-ranked Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball doubleheader at Dempsey Field.

Hope swept the doubleheader, winning 11-1 and 14-4 in games decided in five innings.

Butler produced Albion's RBI in game one with a two-out single in the fifth to score Elena Luce. Kaitlyn Hotchkin hit a one-out double in the second inning, but she never advanced past second base. Hotchkin also hit a single in the fourth inning.

LaCavera hit a two-run homerun in the first and Julia Anderson scored an unearned run in the third as Albion built a 3-0 lead in game two. Hope came back, scoring 13 times in its half of the third.

Butler hit her first career homerun in the fourth.

Albion will play its next two MIAA doubleheaders on the road, starting with a Thursday date at Saint Mary's College.
