ALBION CROSS COUNTRY 2021 SEASON PREVIEW

Ready to make their long-awaited return, the Albion College men's and women's cross country teams will be back on the course Wednesday, September 1. After the pandemic canceled the 2020 cross country season, the Britons only had a track and field season in the spring.

On the women's side, the Britons return plenty of talent. Junior Megan McCulloch is back after a breakout distance season in the spring. She will be joined by Eryn Lewis, Peyton Brooks and Samantha Bieth as some key returners to the Albion lineup.

The women's team will look to newcomers Fatima Cruz and Olivia DeGraaf to potentially crack a spot in the top five. Led by coaches MariKate Murphy and Annika Manning, the Britons look to make great strides in the MIAA this season.

The men's team will be led by Nathaniel Jennings and Jayden VanMaurick. In the spring, both proved to be top runners for Albion on the track. The duo consistently ran good times in the spring and will be the leaders for the Briton men.

Behind Jennings and VanMaurick, Albion's men's squad will rely on plenty of talented youth to lead them this season. Freshmen Owen Poling, Connor Callard and Ruark Wicka will all contribute in their first season in purple and gold

The season for both teams will commence on Sept. 1 at Olivet College. Each team will race in five events before the MIAA Championship race on Oct. 29, which will be held at St. Mary's College.
