Tom Reason & Steve Gilbert in the 1993 NCAA Championships

Albion's best team finish in NCAA Division III championship competition came in 1993, when the Britons were eighth in the nation. Junior Tom Reason (left) and senior Steve Gilbert (right) made a potent one-two-punch for Albion men's track coach Dave Egnatuk (center). Gilbert was the Division III champion in the javelin, and placed fourth in the decathlon. Reason finished second in the decathlon, becoming the first Albion athlete to break 7,000 points in the two-day event. A year later, Reason joined Gilbert, Dan Pekrul and Tracy Garner as Briton Division III men's track champions, winning the decathlon.
