Tom Reason: Division III's Greatest Athlete for 1994

Tom Reason On the heels of Steve Gilbert's success as a two-time Division III champion in the javelin, Tom Reason joined the Albion "Circle of Champions" by winning the decathlon in 1994. Reason's march towards the title of "Division III's Greatest Athlete" started with a fifth place finish in 1992. Reason passed the 7,000-point mark for the first time while finishing second in 1993. A year later, Reason became the first Albion NCAA champion in the decathlon. Also in 1994, Reason came within one place of being a two-time all-American in the same meet, placing ninth in the javelin. A two-sport athlete at Albion (track/football), Reason led the nation in kickoff returns as a sophomore, averaging better than 30 yards per run during the 1991 season.
