Cox Moves on to NCAA D-III Indoor Championships

Sophomore Cullen Cox will represent Albion College in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend.

The meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Mar. 13-14 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Cox, a second-year student out of Leslie, Michigan, has qualified for the 400-meter dash. At the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Track & Field Championships, the Leslie native placed 1st with a winning time of 49.57 seconds, a new Albion College record.

A two-sport athlete, Cox has also found success on the football team at running back. He finished the fall with 312 yards on 47 carries, placing him fourth in rushing yards on the team.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu
