Albion scores in field events

HOLLAND, Mich. – Kejuan Frazier gained the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association event title of his Albion College track & field career Thursday, winning the shot put on the first day of the league's outdoor championship meet.

A sophomore from Augusta, Ga., Frazier achieved his collegiate best (52' 6") to win the shot put by nearly four feet over his next closest competitor. Frazier's throw currently places him in a tie for 19th on the Division III performance list for the outdoor season.

Frazier was the MIAA indoor champion in the shot put in 2018.

Albion picked up eight points when Trevor Knowles finished second in the long jump. He sailed 22' 9 ¼" to finish about 18 inches behind Jeffery Barnett from Trine University.

Xavier Aikens contributed a couple of points in the field when he finished seventh in the hammer throw.

Andrew Wittland led Albion on the track, finishing fourth in the 10,000 meters.

In preliminary races on Thursday, Albion qualified a runner in every event.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu.
