Vince reaches the top of D-III performance list

Cassie Vince achieved the best performance by a Division III woman in the 10,000 meters this season Friday night.

Running in the Raleigh Relays, Vince lowered her personal record by 44 seconds and set the 15th-fastest time ever in Division III when she finished in 34:26.36.

Vince has represented Albion College as an All-American in cross country and indoor track & field already this academic year.

Meanwhile, other Albion distance runners were in action in a meet hosted by Washington University in St. Louis.

Andrew Wittland achieved a personal record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:45.75. That places him seventh on Albion's all-time outdoor list.

Adam Ditri had a fine 5,000 meter run, setting a time of 15:12.

Albion track & field athletes will continue the weekend with action in the Viking Olympics in Rock Island, Ill., tomorrow.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu.
