Four Track & Field athletes honored by the MIAA

Richard Annorat, ShaQuoria Thompson, Layla Wilks and Andrew Wittland represent the Albion College track & field program among the Dec. 3 Athletes of the Week in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Annorat, a senior from Naples, Fla., who prepped at Lely High School, soared 45' 6 ½" to finish second in the triple jump and 6' 4 ¼" to finish fourth in the high jump in a meet that included competition from Division I and Division II student-athletes in a meet at Tiffin University. Annorat also finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.72 seconds.

Thompson, a first-year student-athlete from Waxahachie, Texas, achieved a throw of 39' 9 ¼" in the shot put.

Wilks, a sophomore from Chicago, Ill., broke her school record in the 60 meters when she achieved a time of 7.86 seconds in her semifinal heat. She went on to finish eighth in the finals, setting a time of 7.95. Wilks also took first place in the 200 meters in 25.97.

Wittland, a senior from Grand Rapids, Mich., who prepped at Forest Hills Northern, picked up where he left off after achieving all-region status during the cross country season. He achieved a personal record time (15.40.91) to finish second in the 5,000 meters.

The Britons next indoor track & field meet is Jan. 26, when they travel to Berea, Ohio, for the Dr. William Taraschke Classic.
