Jean-Claude, Vince qualify for NCAA Track & Field Championships

Jephte Jean-Claude and Cassie Vince will represent Albion College in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Jean-Claude, a junior who prepped at Traverse City Central High School, will compete in the men's triple jump after sailing 14.64 meters (the equivalent of 48' ½") at an April 13 meet at Olivet College. He went on to achieved all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association distinction, by willing the league championship in the event with a leap measuring 46' 5 ¼".

A two-time MIAA outdoor champion in the triple jump, Jean-Claude will be competing in the NCAA Championships for the first time.

Vince, a junior from Amherst, Ohio, boasts the fourth-fastest qualifying time in the 10,000 meters. She competed the event in 35:10.58 in a meet at Bucknell University of April 14.

The MIAA champion in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, Vince was in the fields for the 3,000 and 5,000-meter races at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier this year.

The championships will be held May 24-26 at the Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wis.
