Jean-Claude sails in the triple jump

OLIVET, Mich. – Looking to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the first time, Jephte Jean-Claude made a statement Friday afternoon.

Competing against athletes from Alma College and Aquinas College in a quadrangular meet at Olivet College, the Albion College junior who prepped at Traverse City Central sailed 48' ½" in the triple jump. It was his longest jump at Albion and the third-best in school history (behind Charles Lott at 49' ¾" in 2006 and Tracey Garner at 48' 11" in 1983). Jean-Claude is currently ranked fifth among Division III athletes at this point of the season.

Jean-Claude also took first place in the 110-meter hurdles, reaching the finish in 15.82 seconds.

Albion also gained first place points from Andrew Strzelecki in the hammer throw. He achieved a distance of 147' 6".

Kejuan Frazier added a runner-up finish in the shot put with a distance of 47' 6".
