Men's Track & Field team makes indoor, outdoor transition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It was a transitional day for the Albion College track & field program.

While Richard Annorat was completing the indoor season by with competition in the high jump in the NCAA Division III Championship, the rest of the team was competing outdoors for the first time in the Southern Invitational at Birmingham Southern College.

Annorat stayed in the competition by clearing the bar on the final attempt at 1.97 meters (6' 5 ½") and 2.02 (6' 7 ½"). He missed all three attempts at 2.06 (6' 9") to finish 12th.

In the outdoor meet, Kiehl Smith set a winning time of 3:59.05 in the 1,500 meters. Smith joined Alphonso Kitching, Markeese Boyd, and Trevor Knowles for a second place run in the 4x400 relay (3:31.49).

Knowles (6' 2" in the high jump), Chase Baumgardner (steeplechase), Kejuan Frazier (shot put), Jephte Jean-Claude (16.04 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles) and Andrew Strzelecki (hammer throw) finished third in their respective events.

The Britons will return to action in a March 24 meet at Indiana Wesleyan University.
