Men's Tennis splits singles matches at Alma

ALMA, Mich. – Josh McGarry, Robert Joerg and Nick Kinachtchouk were victorious in singles action, but Albion College took a 6-3 loss to Alma College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's tennis match.

All Briton winners on Tuesday improved to 2-1 against MIAA rivals in dual matches this season.

McGarry, playing No. 1 singles, was tested in the second set yet prevailed 6-2, 7-5 over BJ Schuette.

Joerg, playing No. 2 singles, won the pro set after splitting the first two sets with Luke Van Fleet. Joerg rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4) victory.

Kinachtchouk, playing No. 4 singles, scored a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Tristen Fox.

Albion nearly earned a point in doubles. McGarry and Kinachtchouk, the Britons No. 1 team, were defeated in a tiebreaker to decide the match.

Albion will complete the season with home matches against Hope College (April 14), Calvin College (April 18) and Kalamazoo College (April 21).
