Men's Tennis holds off DeSales

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Robert Joerg held off Joey Ferraro at No. 2 singles to give Albion College the clinching point in a 5-4 victory over DeSales University in a spring break men's tennis match.

Joerg took the first set by a relatively easy 6-1 score, but he was extended to a tiebreaker in the second. Joerg won the tiebreaker, 7-3, and Albion had all the points it needed to secure the team victory.

DeSales answered with victories at Nos. 1, 5 and 6 singles, at the end.

Albion took a 2-1 lead into the singles flights. Joerg and Israel Trevino were 8-4 winners in the No. 2 doubles match, and Nick Kinachtchouk and Josh McGarry pulled out a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Trevino extended Albion's lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Dominic Ferraro at No. 3 singles.

Kinachtchouk followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Ben Greb in the No. 4 singles match.

Albion, now 3-6 on the season, continues its spring break schedule at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow with a match against Defiance, Ohio, College.
