Men's Tennis Loses Close Match Against Alma

ALBION, Mich. – The Albion College men's tennis team was unable to protect the 2-1 lead it forged in doubles as it took a 5-4 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College.

Nick Kinachtchouk and Zach McKenzie, a senior playing at home for the final time, edged Jonathon Groening and Luke Van Fleet, 9-7, in the No. 1 match. In the No. 2 match, Robert Joerg and Josh McGarry defeated Noah Ackerman and Grant Hill in a tiebreaker.

McGarry completed a winning day with a straight sets win at No. 2 singles.

Toma Shngoo pulled out a three set victory for the point at No. 6 singles.

The No. 5 flight decided the match as Ackerman rallied from a set down to defeat Kinachtchouk.

Albion will play its final three contests on the road, beginning with a Friday afternoon match at Hope College.
