Albion Elevates Zuck To Director Of Tennis

After completing a nationwide search, Albion College has elevated Kacie Zuck to director of tennis, Athletic Director Matt Arend announced Wednesday.

"As we conducted the search, it became clear that the best candidate for the position was already working with our student athletes," Arend said. "Kacie understands the men's and women's tennis history at Albion College and understands what it will take to get both programs to the top of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Scott Frew (the head coach of the men's and women's teams from 2001-11) was a mentor to Kacie and I see her bringing back a number of the same programmatic principles and expectations that he had as she leads the two teams."

The assistant coach at Albion for the men's and women's tennis teams for the past two seasons, Zuck is a 2009 graduate of Jackson County Western High School. She has maintained her connections in Jackson County over the last two years, serving as the head coach of the varsity girls team at her alma mater for the 2016 season and as well as offering group and private lessons.

Zuck was a finalist for the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association's State Coach of the Year award by virtue of gaining Regional Coach of the Year status for leading the Western squad to the Michigan High School Athletic Association state tournament.

A 2013 graduate of Ferris State University, Zuck worked as the director of early development at a tennis academy in Atlanta, Ga. She returned to Michigan to complete her MBA and teach tennis locally.

She holds multiple tennis teaching and coaching certifications through various national and international organizations, including the United States Professional Tennis Association, Professional Tennis Registry, and the United States Tennis Association.

"I am thrilled to begin working with both teams full time as the head coach," Zuck said. "I started my tennis career 12 years ago being taught lessons by Scott Frew  at Albion, so I am excited for the opportunity to fill this role and reestablish Albion as a dominating force in tennis.

"After working with the players on both teams over the past two seasons, I am confident that we can build strong and competitive teams for both the men and women," she added. "I look forward to working with the student athletes and help them grow as students and players to realize their potential both on and off court."
