McGarry, Kinachtchouk Rally Albion Past Wittenberg

ALBION, Mich. – Josh McGarry and Nick Kinachtchouk didn't panic after having their serves broken in the third set of their respective singles matches as Albion College rallied for a 5-4 victory over Wittenberg University in non-league men's tennis action.

The first-year student-athletes helped Albion picked up its first win of the season.

"They were the better players but they were coachable under pressure and never gave up," Albion Coach Tim Dunford said. "They just won the bigger points, at the most important part of their matches."

McGarry won the No. 3 singles match 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. Kinachtchouk was a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 winner at No. 6.

Ross Kynast and Peter Pappas won their singles matches in straight sets. Kynast and Zach McKenzie prevented Albion from being swept in doubles by taking the No. 1 match, 8-3.

"Ross and Peter led the way by playing consistent and aggressive," Dunford said.

Albion has another home match Feb. 21 when it plays host to Elmhurst College.
