Jonathan Gurnee, Albion College's No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles player, won all four of his matches last week to earn recognition as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Player of the Week in men's tennis.
Gurnee, a sophomore from Midland, achieved straight-set singles wins over Hope, 6-4, 6-3 and Calvin, 6-2, 6-2. He teamed up with Eric Guindi at doubles to defeat Hope, 8-5, and Calvin, 8-3.
Albion completed its regular season dual schedule at 8-8 overall and 3-3 against MIAA rivals. The Britons currently sit in fourth place in the MIAA standings and they will qualify for the league tournament in May if they finish there.
Gurnee and his teammates are preparing for the MIAA's Flighted Tournament. The event is scheduled for April 25-26 in Holland, Mich.
