Briton swimmers begin mid-season meet

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Connor Robertson and Jake Huttenlocher were two of the top four performers in the 200-yard individual medley as the Albion College men's swimming and diving team began its midseason meet on Friday.

Albion is in fifth place in a field of seven teams after the first day of competition in the Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational. Birmingham Southern College leads the team standings with 642 points. Birmingham Southern is followed by John Carroll University (618), Wabash College (557), Saginaw Valley State University (474 ½) and Albion (462).

Robertson achieved a time of 1:53.86 to finish second in the IM. Huttenlocher finished fourth in 1:55.76.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
