CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Jake Huttenlocher swam to second place in the 200-yard breaststroke and he helped Albion College to a third place finish in the 400 freestyle relay on the final day of competition in the Wabash College Invitational.

Albion was the fourth-best Division III team in the scoring. Birmingham Southern College (2,637 ½), John Carroll University (2,068) and Wabash (2,028 ½) finished ahead of Albion's 1,904 total.

Huttenlocher put up a time of 2:07.15 in the finals of the breaststroke. Tyler Kimbrell also qualified for the breaststroke finals with the third-best preliminary time (2:08.91). Kimbrell and Hunter Jackman finished ninth and 10th, respectively, in the finals.

In the freestyle relay, Evan Wonner, Huttenlocher, Mac Robertson and Len Ciemniecki achieved a time of 3:08.99.

Also for the Britons on Sunday:

  • Diver Jonathan Cronick achieved a personal-best score (271.95) in the 3-meter competition. Jake Burris nearly achieved a regional qualifying score while completing 10 of his 11 dives. Burris finished with a 439.85 total (440 is needed to qualify for the regional championship)
  • Drew Fogel held off Kevin Sheridan (Wabash) by a hundredth of a second to score fourth place in the 200 butterfly
  • Wonner and Ciemniecki were sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 100 freestyle
  • Ian Moran and Robbie Hagner were eighth and 10th, respectively, in the 200 backstroke

Albion will take a break from competition until Jan. 11 when it dives in against Calvin College for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet.
