Burris wins diving event as Albion starts quadrangular meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Jake Burris took first place in 1-meter diving and the 400-yard medley relay team was touched out at the finish as the Albion College men's swimming & diving team started competition in a quadrangular meet at Calvin College.

Burris, a senior from Chelsea, Mich., achieved a winning score of 488.55.

In the relay, Nate Kozycki and Len Ciemnecki led Albion on a late charge, however, the Britons came up short by four tenths of a second. Carthage College won the race in 3:30.41, with the Britons finishing in 3:30.79. Kozycki achieved a 50.58-second split, and Ciemniecki swam the relay leg in 47.12.

Albion also finished second in the 200 free relay. Evan Wonner, Kozycki, Tommy Trueax and Ciemniecki achieved a time of 1:27.04.

In individual swims, Mac Robertson finished second (4:51.71) and Trueax was fourth (4:55.44) in the 500 freestyle. Jake Huttenlocher was third in the 200 individual medley (1:59.51).
