Swim/Dive coach announces resignation

Jake Taber, head swimming and diving coach at Albion College since 2012, has announced his resignation to pursue the opportunity to serve as coach at Hope College, his alma mater.

"We are thankful for the leadership Jake Taber provided during his six seasons as head coach at Albion," Albion Athletic Director Matt Arend said. "The program celebrated a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's championship, All-America awards, and many school records during his tenure. Albion Athletics will work diligently to find the next head coach who will continue to build on the foundation laid by Coach Taber."

Taber guided the Albion men to top-25 finishes at the NCAA Division III championships the past three seasons, including a program-best 13th-place finish in 2017. The Britons were 2017 MIAA champions, their first conference championship in 46 years.

Taber led the Britons to school records in all but two men's events during his tenure. He coached 45 MIAA event champions, two All-Americans and nine honorable-mention All-Americans at Albion.

The Albion women set 15 school records, claimed five MIAA event titles and had one national qualifier during Taber's tenure.

Arend said a search for Taber's replacement will begin immediately.
