Burris, Kozycki gain MIAA Athlete of the Week awards

Jake Burris and Nate Kozycki were named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Diver and Swimmer of the Week, respectively, as the Albion College program begins to make its final push toward the league's Feb. 21-24 championship meet in Grand Rapids.

Burris, a junior from Chelsea, Mich., is receiving the Diver of the Week award for the fourth time this season. He achieved winning scores of 227.10 on the 1-meter and 251.20 on the 3-meter to win the diving competitions in a dual meet against Olivet College last Saturday.

Kozycki, a junior from Grand Rapids, Mich., who prepped at Northview High School, is receiving the Swimmer of the Week award for the second time this season. The All-American completed the 100-yard butterfly at Olivet in 49.91 seconds, a time believed to be the fastest ever in a MIAA dual meet.

Kozycki already holds the 21st-fastest time by a Division III swimmer this season in the event, touching the wall in 49.50 seconds in a November meet at the University of Chicago.

"Nate is in a real good spot (as the MIAA Championship approaches)," Albion Head Coach Jake Taber said. "It seems like it's coming together nicely. He continues to do good things."
